By Natasha North

The John K. Kennedy Library is a recipient of a 2017 Estela and Raúl Mora Honor Award. The Mora Award was established by celebrated children’s author Pat Mora and her siblings. It recognizes outstanding schools or programs that celebrate Children’s Day, Book Day (“Día”) as way of connecting all children to bookjoy and promoting literacy year round in creative ways. The John F. Kennedy Library has been celebrating Día for 11 years with award-winning authors, illustrators, poets, activities, music, and free books. As a recipient of the Mora Honor Award, the library will have $500 to spend in the First Book Marketplace on books for children.
