LIBRARY AND MALL TEAM UP FOR STORY TIME
Along with a chance to beg mom for a carousel ride or to spring for a cookie, preschoolers can now enjoy a special story time at the mall. Solano County Library has teamed up with Westfield Solano to offer interactive story times for the stroller set. The current series, on Wednesdays, at 10 a.m. ends June 16 but library staffers hope to continue the service.
“We were delighted when Tiffany Debol from Westfield came to us with this idea for a community partnership. Everyone wins, the mall, the Library and especially the kids who enjoy the show,” said Cara Swartz, the Solano County Library’s assistant director. And a show it is. Yvette Sanchez-Klemm a library associate from the Fairfield Civic Center Library, involves the kids in the stories with music, puppets, “dancing” scarves and other props. “We are averaging 35 kids and half again as many parents. It’s fun to see all kinds of people standing at the balconies, looking over at what is going on,” said Swartz.
