During National Library Week April 19-25, 2020, 10 winning photos will be featured on the Solano County Library website and displayed at the library branches. Entries will be posted to the library’s Facebook and Instagram account.
Contest begins February 9
You must be 12 – 18 years old and submit only your own work
Only local participants are eligible to win prizes.
Limit: 1 photo per category
All photos are subject to verification, and images may be used or altered by Solano County Library for promotional purposes
Submit by email (preferred): firstname.lastname@example.org
Include your name, city, and photo category. Include a description of your photo.
Submit through Instagram using #sclphotocontest2020 and mention @SolanoLibrary in the text

All entries must be received by March 31st at 9pm
One winning photo will be chosen per category.
Animals- Showcase your favorite animals, from pets to wildlife.
Forced Perspective- Use creative angles to make the viewer see something different.
Health- Show what you do to keep healthy physically and/or mentally.
Hometown Pride – Share your spirit for your hometown and what things inspire you the most about your community.
Nature – Plants, natural scenery and landscapes.
People/Portraits – Individuals or groups of people, including fashion shots.
Scenes – Photos that tell a story. Staged scenes or candid photos.
Special Effects – Use Photoshop, VSCO, or any other software to edit or enhance photos.
Work Space- Show us the space you use to get creative or keep yourself hard at work.
Your Choice – Any photo you're proud of that doesn't fit in the other categories.
You must submit your own original artwork and submit it in .jpg format.
Winning photos should best represent the library and its values of exploration, inspiration, growth, and discovery.
There will be 2 Grand Prize Winners. The first grand prize is a one-on-one session learning from a local photographer.
An adult chaperone is required to collect that grand prize. The second grand prize is a surprise involving another local photgrapher.
An enlarged and mounted print of your winning photo (winners must be able to pick up prints at a Solano County Library)
Grand Prize photos may be used to promote library events
All 10 winning photos will be featured on solanolibrary.com and the library’s social media accounts on Flickr, Instagram, and Facebook.
