Digital Photography Contest Teen Photography Contest


Want to be a famous teen photographer? Submit your best photos to the Teen Photography Contest 2020.


Submit to or on Instagram use #sclphotocontest2020 

Contest extended through April 17, 2020. 


Due to the contest extension, winners will be announced at a to be determined date.  10 winning photos will be featured on the Solano County Library website and displayed at the library branches. Entries will be posted to the library’s Facebook and Instagram account.








  • Contest begins February 9

  • You must be 12 – 18 years old and submit only your own work

    • Only local participants are eligible to win prizes.

  • Limit: 1 photo per category

  • All photos are subject to verification, and images may be used or altered by Solano County Library for promotional purposes

  • Submit by email (preferred):

  • Include your name, city, and photo category. Include a description of your photo.



  • Submit through Instagram using #sclphotocontest2020  and mention @SolanoLibrary in the text

    • Include your name, city and photo category

    • Set your privacy settings to allow @solanolibrary to see your submissions

    • Follow the library @solanolibrary on Instagram

  • All entries must be received by April 17 at 9pm

One winning photo will be chosen per category.



  1. Animals- Showcase your favorite animals, from pets to wildlife.

  2. Forced Perspective- Use creative angles to make the viewer see something different.

  3. Health- Show what you do to keep healthy physically and/or mentally.

  4. Hometown Pride – Share your spirit for your hometown and what things inspire you the most about your community.

  5. Nature – Plants, natural scenery and landscapes.

  6. People/Portraits – Individuals or groups of people, including fashion shots.

  7. Scenes – Photos that tell a story. Staged scenes or candid photos.

  8. Special Effects – Use Photoshop, VSCO, or any other software to edit or enhance photos. 

  9. Work Space- Show us the space you use to get creative or keep yourself hard at work. 

  10. Your Choice – Any photo you're proud of that doesn't fit in the other categories.


You must submit your own original artwork and submit it in .jpg format.








Winning photos should best represent the library and its values of exploration, inspiration, growth, and discovery.



  • There will be 2 Grand Prize Winners.  The first grand prize is a one-on-one session learning from a local photographer.
    An adult chaperone is required to collect that grand prize. The second grand prize is a surprise involving another local photgrapher. 

  • An enlarged and mounted print of your winning photo (winners must be able to pick up prints at a Solano County Library)

  • Grand Prize photos may be used to promote library events

  • All 10 winning photos will be featured on and the library’s social media accounts on Flickr, Instagram, and Facebook.

  • All 10 winning photos will be displayed in our Solano County libraries

  • Only local participants are eligible for prizes.
