Ode to Fire
By Claire Williams

Whoosh! The fire is started
It cannot drown
It will eventually pull around
With or without a frown

The flames swooshing back and forth
On top of the house
With scorching and blistering temperatures
It is impossible to stay calm
It liquefies and demolishes everything
The walls collapsing and getting pulverized to the ground

It is burning hot to the touch
Melting our fingers with ease
Melting our fingers with ease

The flames swooshing back and forth
In the dingy, cozy pit
Heating your toes head and palms
No wounds to be found

Whoosh! The fire is out
It can drown
It may pull around
With or without a frown
