A metaphore for love anyone?

Love as a Yellow-Bellied Racer

The striped Whipsnake - Masticophus Taciviatus
Is brown
And striped

Unlike the Cape Whipsnake - Masticophus Aurigulus
Which lives in California
Where Ella lived

She lived in Sonora, like the Masticophus Bileatus,
With olive eyes
And blue-brown hair

And she loved someone who, like the Coluber Constrictus.
Loved open woodland
Foot-hilled mountains and Ella

But she didn't know
About Coluber Constrictus
(Though to be fair Neither did he)

Coluber Constrictus is also known as
the Western Yellow-Bellied Racer.
And he, like all his kind,
Would run away.
